Fresno EOC AFLP Staff Volunteers in Teen Parent Support Conference

Posted on Feb 16, 2017

Fresno EOC Adolescent Family Life Program (AFLP) partners with schools and many other agencies to provide support to pregnant and parenting teens. One of those partnerships involves being a resource for the annual Central Valley Teen Parent Conference, which has been held for the last several years in Fresno but is open to teens from throughout the Central Valley.

The conference has drawn as many as 500 teens and covers a variety of topics like fatherhood, stress management, how to access social services, going to college, preventive sexual health, and more. Fresno EOC AFLP is an integral part of helping the conference succeed each year. The conference is sponsored by the Teen Parent Support Collaborative and Fresno EOC AFLP has been an active member of the collaborative for many years. AFLP offers another strong example of both results achieved by Fresno EOC’s 35 plus programs but also a commitment to Fresno EOC’s vision of its’ clients who become “empowered individuals who thrive as healthy, self-sufficient, and contributing members of our communities.”

This year the conference will be held Wednesday, February 22nd at the Double Tree hotel on Ventura Street in Fresno. All AFLP staff volunteer in the conference, some staff have presented at the conference on multiple occasions, and Fresno EOC AFLP has provided transportation for teens so they can participate in the conference.
