Description:

The Assistant Teacher/Caregiver will support the caregiving staff to implement all components of quality in the Early Head Start Child Development Center. Job duties include supporting the Teacher/Caregiver in: working effectively with parents, maintaining positive staff relations, developing age appropriate programs and caring for young children under the age of 36 months. Adhere to all FCEOC personnel policies and procedures on a consistent basis. Maintain excellent work habits (attendance, punctuality, time management, teamwork, etc.). Assist in the planning and implementation of individualized  developmentally appropriate curriculum as per Early Head Start Performance Standards. Assist in developing age appropriate classroom environments that include displays of children’s work and attractive interest centers. Assist in providing a discrimination free environment that promotes understanding and acceptance. Supervise children and staff at all times to maintain a safe environment according to Cal OSHA Guidelines (SB198) plan, Community Care Licensing and Early Head Start Performance Standards. Treat all children and their families with respect. Assist infants and toddlers to resolve conflicts by enforcing limits in a consistent manner and by helping children find the appropriate ways to deal with their feelings.

Requirements:

High School Education/GED required plus 12 units of Early Childhood Education (ECE) or Child Development (CD) including 3 units Infant Development. Must have valid California Driver’s License and automobile with proof of insurance. Physical Examination and TB screening are required after employment. Infant/Child CPR/First Aid required. Per State Licensing regulations. Fingerprinting required and must clear as a condition of employment. Able to communicate (verbally and written) in English (other language as appropriate) with staff, children and families in an effective manner.
