Nurse Practitioner provides primary care to individuals and families be
performing medical screenings, identifying normal/abnormal physical
conditions, initiating referrals for further diagnosis and treatment, and
providing instruction in health care. Areas of specialization for a Nurse
Practitioner are pediatrics, family, maternity or geriatrics.
Incumbents
of this class must exert themselves to remain knowledgeable regarding new developments
in medical care through readings, research, professional organizations, and
continued academic training.
Review
charts and interview patients to obtain health histories. Performs routine physical
screening examinations. Records finding of physical and developmental
assessment. Provides direct and indirect clinical services. Provides
contraceptive services and supplies.
