Description:

Maintain a positive and productive work environment. Monitor team dynamics, mediate conflicts, keep corpsmembers on task to ensure the success and timely completion of projects. Provide on-site training and learning opportunities for corpsmembers and help them meet their education and training objectives. Assure the safety and well being of each corpsmember at all times. Prepare corpsmembers for entry to skilled, demand occupations or other occupations and careers they may be interested in. Cooperate and work closely with the LCC case management unit in resolving issues corpsmembers may have as well as supporting their development toward becoming self-sufficient, responsible citizens. Ensure that corpsmembers comply with all Local Conservation Corps guidelines as specified in the Corpsmember Handbook. Other related duties assigned by the General Manager, Manager, or Superintendent.

Requirements:

High school diploma or GED. Able to relate well to an ethnically diverse population of unskilled young adults with limited work experience and multiple barriers to employment. Commitment to supporting young adults in their quest to improve their employment skills and encouragement to engage in continuous learning. Hard working, self-starter, able to complete projects to specifications with limited supervision. Excellent role model, motivated to support young adults in their development with positive, reinforcing counsel and guidance. A leader, able to resolve conflicts and facilitates team development on the crew. Trainable and willing to take on a variety of assignments, as program needs dictate. Well organized, goal oriented. Strong communication skills. Ability to complete reports, evaluations, and other related written material in a legible, professional manner. Willingness and ability to relate well to other supervisors and support staff and cooperate in efforts to provide services and counsel to corpsmembers, as needed. Interest and dedication to community service. Computer skills preferred particularly word-processing, spreadsheets, and graphs. Class C California Drivers License, reliable transportation, clean driving record, insurable.
