Save the Date for a McFun Night Fundraiser to benefit Sanctuary Youth Shelter.

Fresno EOC Sanctuary Youth Shelter is hosting a fundraiser to raise awareness of youth runaway issues and to educate the Fresno community about solutions that help prevent youth from running away.
“Between 1.6 and 2.8 million youth run away in a year in the United States,” said Michelle L. Tutunjian, Fresno EOC Sanctuary Director. “There are youth in our community today who have either run or are thinking of leaving home. This event is a way for us to bring light to this issue and to prevent this from happen to youth in our community.”
Those interested in participating in the McFun night can visit the McDonald’s Restaurant on Cedar and Herndon to order food and learn more about helping prevent runaways.
“It is important we let youth know that if they are in a rough spot, they have a safe place to stay and they can get some help figuring out their next steps,” Chrystal Streets, Program Manager, Fresno EOC Sanctuary Youth Shelter.
Fresno EOC Sanctuary Youth Shelter’s event occurs as part of November’s National Runaway Prevention Month, a national initiative sponsored by the National Runaway Safeline (NRS) and the National Network for Youth (NN4Y). Other events which were held include Fresno City and Fresno County proclamation of National Runaway Prevention month, the Homeless Connect event to provide information about community services to homeless individuals, and social media initiatives to discussion NRPM.

About Fresno EOC Sanctuary Youth Shelter: Fresno EOC Sanctuary Youth Shelter, established in 1992, is the only self-referral emergency shelter between Bakersfield and Stockton and is recognized as a Safe Place for runaway, homeless, exploited or displaced youth ages 12-17 (18 if still in high school). The shelter is located in Fresno, and accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Youth are provided a hot meal, clothing, crisis intervention, case management, counseling, and family re-unification (when appropriate). About National Runaway Safeline (NRS): The National Runaway Safeline, established in 1971, serves as the federally-designated national communication system for homeless and runaway youth.
