Meet the SOS Team

Posted on May 22, 2017

Sanctuary Outreach to the Streets (SOS) is a mobile team searching for runaway, homeless and street youth seven nights a week. The team is comprised of three dedicated Outreach Workers who are supported by student interns from California State University, Fresno Social Work Department. SOS team conducts searches in areas where most people do not consider places meant for human habitation including freeway underpasses and abandoned buildings. Once a youth is located, the SOS team provides youth with basic needs and referrals for housing and other community resources. SOS also operates three Drop-In Centers where youth can receive respite services (a meal, warm shower, and social engagement). The team believes that compassion and perseverance serves to benefit a youth and allows them to thrive through hardships. SOS assists in improving the lives of youth and families, and embraces diversity by serving youth of all walks of life, no matter what circumstance they are facing. SOS advocates community collaboration. When a youth thrives, so does a community!
