Fresno EOC is pleased to reach even more children and families across Fresno County and recently held grand openings for two new locations: La Colonia Head Start in Parlier and Richard Keyes Head Start in Northwest Fresno. And the program is working to open a new site for infants and toddlers by the end of October.
The Fresno EOC Head Start 0 to 5 La Colonia site is located at 13660 E. Manning Avenue in Parlier. This new center has three classrooms and 10 staff members serving 60 children. Community members and Fresno EOC were thrilled to join in the festivities and take a tour of the new facility, which was four years in the making and delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Fresno EOC’s Chief Executive Officer, Emilia Reyes, said, “With this grand opening at La Colonia, Fresno EOC now has nearly 40 sites across Fresno County, and I’m beyond proud to be part of an agency that collaborated with community leaders to develop this brand new, beautiful facility. We understand how vital early childhood education is and we wanted to create a place where children and families feel welcome, valued, and taken care of.”
The Fresno EOC Richard Keyes Head Start site is located at 1620 W. Fairmont Avenue in Northwest Fresno, with four classrooms. 16 staff were hired to help serve 120 preschool children and their families. The family of the late Richard Keyes, who the site was named after, were in attendance. Keyes was a longtime member of the Fresno EOC Board of Commissioners, an educator, a military veteran, and a true community advocate.
Fresno EOC strives to help children and families achieve school readiness. It also offers the benefits of healthy meals, committed teachers, and provides parents with the tools to make decisions to improve services for their children.
Fresno EOC Head Start Director Rosa M. Pineda says, “We are so pleased to offer these services to the community. And soon, we will be opening a new center in Selma. The Fresno EOC Eric White Child Development Center will serve children from birth to three years old and is scheduled to open in October.”
