Join us on Thursday, June 6 at 10:30 a.m. at the West Fresno Branch Library (188 E. California Ave., Fresno, CA 93706).
Fresno EOC is excited to present the Food Express Bus, a mobile healthy meal bus, which takes to the road to battle food insecurity amongst our community’s kids.
- In the US, 1 in 6 kids suffers from devastating food insecurity.
- In Fresno County, 1 in 3 kids suffer from food insecurity.
- In select neighborhoods in Fresno, 3 out of every 3 kids suffer from food insecurity.
In 2017, Fresno EOC along with volunteers, piloted a mobile meal delivery system to take USDA-funded meals to children who lacked access to healthy food. With three pop-up mobile meal stops during the summer, 4,000 meals were served. A mobile bus would streamline operations and allow us to serve more healthy meals to children.
In 2018, the community joined us to fund the purchase and retrofit of a school bus. This year we hosted a Healthy Food Super Hero art contest and the community helped us pick the winners. Now we are ready to unveil the completed Food Express Bus with Healthy Food Super Heroes featured on the outside of the converted school bus.
