Art contest winners will be featured on the food express bus

Fresno EOC is encouraging youth to participate in a youth art contest from now until March 1. Participants are asked to create their own ‘healthy food super hero,’ with the purpose of featuring six winners on The Food Express bus. The bus is currently delivering meals throughout Fresno County, but soon artwork will be displayed on the exterior of the bus.

Winners will be announced during National Youth Art Month and National Safe Place Week, the third week of March. After winners are announced the artwork will be transferred to the bus and revealed at a press conference in June.

Participants will be judged on the following categories:

1.    creativity and originality

2.    quality and execution

3.    adherence to the theme

4.    overall impression.

Judges will be designated Fresno EOC representatives and will review entries as they are turned in. After one winner is chosen from each age group, a wildcard winner will also be chosen from any of the listed age groups.

The age categories are as follows:

•    6 and younger

•    7 to 9

•    10 to 12

•    13-15

•    16-18

Entry forms can be found on The Food Express bus and any WIC locations. All entries must be received by 10am, March 1 and have a parent or legal guardian over the age of 18 to provide consent. Completed forms can be dropped off at any WIC location, The Food Express, uploaded online in high resolution (300dpi) or mailed to 1920 Mariposa Mall, Suite 300, Fresno, CA 93721.
