May marks Community Action Month, a time to recognize and celebrate the work of Community Action Agencies across the nation. This year, Fresno Economic Opportunities Commission (Fresno EOC) was proud to participate and kick off the month by sending over 30 dedicated staff members to Sacramento on May 1st.
The event was hosted at the Capitol by California Community Action Partnership Association (CalCAPA) bringing dozens of other community action agencies from across California to advocate for continued support and highlight their impactful work. This event provided a space for agencies to connect, share experiences, and discuss strategies for addressing issues facing our communities.
During their time in Sacramento, Fresno EOC CEO Emilia Reyes, along with program leaders, had the opportunity to meet with legislators to discuss the role their programs play in the community. Their discussions with Assemblywoman Esmeralda Soria and Assemblyman Joaquin Arambula were impactful.
Both legislators expressed their admiration for the hard work and dedication demonstrated by Fresno EOC. They acknowledged the significant impact these programs have on improving the quality of life for many residents throughout Fresno County.
Community Action Month is a time to recognize the work of Community Action Agencies and the positive changes they create. Fresno EOC’s participation in the Sacramento kickoff event and their ongoing advocacy show their strong commitment to the community. By continuing to lead and innovate in the fight against poverty, Fresno EOC demonstrates how dedicated action can make a lasting impact.
