Valley Apprenticeship Connections (VAC) Construction pre-apprenticeship program

Get ready for your career with our 12-week program!

Fresno EOC Valley Apprenticeship Connections program is here to support the hiring needs of our Central Valley’s construction contractors. Our students are immersed in an intense 12-week training program to prepare them for the workforce.

Our 12-Week training program includes:

  • Monday-Friday schedule 7 am to 3 pm
  • Personal journey of self evaluation
  • Behavioral Change Curriculum
  • Soft skill attainment
  • Conflict resolution
  • Daily physical education
  • Construction Math
  • Meet and greet introductions to all the Union Trades & Associated Builders and Contractors Inc.
  • Random drug testing will occur twice during the training

 

Graduates will meet the City of Fresno’s National Targeted Hiring Policy and Tier I or Tier II requirements for contractors working with the High Speed Rail. Graduates may qualify to have financial assistance to pay for their initial induction fees.

This program is funded by State Center Community College District through a grant from The James Irvine Foundation.

Manufacturing Maintenance Mechanic Program

The Manufacturing Mechanic Program is a NO-COST multi-week program focused on concepts necessary to be successful in the Maintenance Mechanic Program at Fresno City College Career & Technology Center. Completers can potentially earn $15 to $22.60 per hour. This program includes the following manufacturing courses:

  • Introduction to Manufacturing
  • Trade Mathematics
  • Programmable Controllers
  • Job Preparation and Soft Skills
  • Technical Report Writing
  • Fluid Power Fundamentals
  • Pneumatic Fundamentals
  • Hydraulic Fundamentals
  • Power Transmission
  • Welding Fundamentals
  • Electrical Fundamentals

To enroll in the program, students must be 18 or older and have or obtain a valid drivers license.

  • Diagnosing and repairing machines: Maintenance Mechanics conduct routine maintenance on production equipment in order to keep a facility running.
  • Testing machinery: Maintenance Mechanics calibrate testing machinery for proper operation

Fresno EOC Valley Apprenticeship Connections program is here to support the hiring needs of our Central Valley’s construction contractors. Our students are immersed in an intense 12-week training program to prepare them for the construction industry.

Our students are trained in conflict resolution and other soft skills. They are required to meet a daily schedule and are randomly drug tested twice during the training.

Our graduates are ready to start on your job site with these certifications:

  • First Aid and CPR
  • OSHA 10
  • Confined Space
  • Work Zone Safety/Traffic Control
  • Hazardous Waste Initial Course
  • Flagging
  • Blueprint Reading
  • Grade Checking

What is Valley Apprenticeship Connections?

Valley Apprenticeship Connections (VAC) is a program of Fresno EOC that helps individuals 18 and over enter the construction industry with a 12-week pre-apprenticeship program.

Do students get paid while they are in the 12-week program?

Students do not get paid while they are in the 12-week program.

Do graduates of the program actually find employment?

Over 90% of graduates of the 12-week program find employment in the construction industry. Many of them start with an hourly wage of over $18. 

Do you offer services in Spanish?

Unfortunately we currently only offer classes in English.

Is daycare provided during the classes?

We are not able to provide daycare during classes at this time.
