Fresno EOC School of Unlimited Learning (SOUL) is celebrating the season with a generous gift of time and festive front door design. Students and staff from the charter high school created dozens of dazzling wreaths for the Healthcare Centre of Fresno, a senior center on M Street in downtown Fresno.

50 natural and artificial wreaths were hand-decorated with ribbons, acorns, reindeers, poinsettias, and more. Then, they were personally delivered to the senior center by the school’s Interact Club, which is Rotary International’s service club for young people.

One of SOUL’s Interact Club goals is to provide students with opportunities to take action through community services. This goes hand in hand with Fresno EOC’s motto of “Helping people, changing lives.” SOUL Principal Susan Lopez said, “It was our honor to provide some cheer to the residents and staff of the Healthcare Centre of Fresno with our delivery of wreaths. The students and staff participated with the purpose of bringing some joy to the center. We were delighted to see how appreciative and happy they were to see us. It is a memory we will have forever.”

Eight SOUL students and 20 staff members participated, as well as Cultural Arts Rotary Club of Fresno. Student Eliyana Falcon said, “It feels good to give back to the community and have a positive impact.”

After a year of being largely shut-off from visitors due to the pandemic, the seniors were extremely grateful. The Facility Administrator, the Activities Director, and a few of the residents went out to thank the students and staff for the special delivery before decking the halls.
