Last year, as schools shutdown across the country, our Summer Meals for Kids program received additional funds during the pandemic to provide meals while the schools were closed. As schools are opening this fall, and we near the end of summer, our Summer Meals and Food Express Bus will go back to pre-pandemic schedule, which serves kids meals during summer and winter breaks.
As we look back, we have seen thousands of kids and provided free breakfasts and lunches while easing the burden on families while the schools were closed. Over 50 different sites have served the community, including the Food Express Bus stops—which added a new Rural Food Express Bus service this summer to bring food to kids across Fresno County.
Summer ending dates differ from site to site, so please take a look at the site schedules here to find out when the service is scheduled to close.
- Last day for Rural Food Express Bus Services: August 7.
- Last day for Food Express Bus Services: August 11.
- Meals for Kids and the Food Express Buses will be back during the winter.
